The younger a woman get her first menstrual increasingly vulnerable to depression in adolescence it. These conclusions were obtained from the results of a study conducted in the UK on women aged 10, 13 and 14 years. The respondents were investigated the relationship between early age of their menstruation for the first time and their level of depressive symptoms.
The study, reported in the British Journal of Psychiatry found that women who first got menstruating at the age of about 11.5 years of depression tend to be susceptible at age 13-14 years. The woman who first got menstruation at the age of approximately 13.5 years earlier had no symptoms.
According to Dr. Carol Joinson, from the School of Social and Community Medicine at Bristol University, the girls were too fast today may feel isolated and deal with the things that they are not strong enough emotionally.
These changes could be related to hormonal fluctuations, conflicts with friends and parents, as well as more attention from the opposite sex. Maturity maturity could provide better protection against psychological distress of the child.
This study only observed mild depressive symptoms in children who received the first period in the mid teens compared to women who received first menstruation at the age of early adolescence. If the relationship of depression with younger age at the time of menstruation is strong enough, they were surprised by the change in him that would require a separate counseling.
If indeed women menstruating at a very young age have an increased risk of psychological, so it is better if prepared a separate counseling targeted for intervention and prevention of the things that is not desirable.
